We did end up having to host a HP 7.2 movie screening birthday party for my eleven year old son and take nine boys to the (non 3-D) theater on the Sunday of opening weekend. By the Thursday prior I was such a wreck about the prospect of having to attend the movie with a gang of possibly overly rowdy boys that my husband graciously offered to go alone with the group and shepherd them down to the nearby park afterward where we would have cake and pickup basketball. A grand time was had by all, and I was able to see the film later with my family (who all wanted to see it a second time), so it worked out. For me, Alan Rickman stole the show and the Snape story arc broke my heart.
Your Babble post is lovely and I am glad even though the birthday party your son had envisioned did not materialize, you are all doing so very very well together.
I thought the Snape/Lily backstory got short shrift in the movie…Alan Rickman has been the best part of every movie, and the only disconcerting part of listening to Jim Dale brilliantly read all the books is that his Snape voice isn’t “right”, post-Rickman. Or so I think….
